To be honest, I kind of hate tumblrs that post needless pictures that have no relation to the site asides from just being super hipster-y. I know it shows that the admins are ~active~ or whatever, but it’s just kind of annoying and it makes finding the actual information more difficult than it needs to be. I do like site tumblrs though, because you can advertise when you need help or ask for suggestions from the potential members. c:

Personally I detest site tumblrs because they just become another battle in the war of “who can be prettiest”. Yes, they do present an opportunity to advertise and share information about sites, but most of the time they are another obsession to keep up with graphics trends and tumblr themes. As someone in the process of making a site, I know I’ll probably end up having to make one to snag members, but I really don’t look forward to it.

While site tumblrs do seem to be a good way to promote and keep potential members interested, personally I see them as rather pointless. I like to see the actual roleplay in action when it’s all complete, not drip-fed bits and pieces of a site. I like everything to be done, ready and right there so I can make up my mind whether I’m going to join or not. Joining a site tumblr to eventually realise I’m not going to join is a waste of my time and a waste of the site admin’s time.
