In response to the ask, I would just PM the person going by the new alias and let them know you recognize them from their previous name.  People sometimes go by different aliases on different sites so they might not be trying to hide or anything.

in response to last anon: guess it depends. not all people change their alias to “hide.” sometimes b/c they want to, or b/c some people know them as another alias than you, or b/c there are alias doubles, so they changed theirs. whatever the case with them, i think if you know them, you could maybe talk to them privately if they’d rather others not know about another alias. out in the open, i don’t see why you’d have to pretend you didn’t know them… you’d just be calling them a different name.
