On graphics: Do you mean site graphics or graphics for posting? When it comes to posting, I couldn’t care much either way because the post is the important part. For sites, I do like the skin to have nice graphics; if I’m spending time there, I want the place to be aesthetically pleasing since I’ll be looking at it whenever I’m on the site. As for specific user graphics such as sigs and avatars, I love avatars (gifs are fun!) but I think sigs are annoying to see after every post.

RE: Anon on graphics - I’ll be the first to admit that I am shallow and I like the sites I’m on to be pretty. Though of course I won’t join a site JUST because they have pretty graphics, they are one of the reasons why I decide to stay or give an rp a try. I’m the same way with skins though. If a site has too dark of a skin, or a too bright/neony skin, I probably won’t join because it hurts my eyes. Overall, I like aesthetics, so to me personally things like graphics and skin do matter.

To the anon asking about the importance of graphics: Bad graphics are enough to turn me away from a board, tbh, but then again I make graphics myself… soooo I might be a bit pickier than others when judging them. You don’t have to be amazing at graphics to have a good looking forum though. Simple, clear pictures with a clean font can do the trick. It’s better than trying to do too much.

Graphics DEFINITELY matter! They’re the first impression a site makes. If I don’t see a skin in graphics I like, I have no desire to look around and see what the site is like. It’s like seeing a store that has an ugly storefront and a sales floor that isn’t merchandised. Why would I want to buy something, or even go inside?
