frozen to the bone

so perditia has called you - and for whatever reason, your heart has heard this beckoning and answered it. why may be unknown to you, but that hardly matters now you’re here. like everyone else summoned to this realm, you have been ripped from the moment, be it the turning of a corner, opening of a door, a blink of your eyes, a new chapter in a dream. suddenly you re-awake, as if from a nap, lungs filled with icy air.

you wake to find yourself stretched atop the middle of a frozen lake. questions, confusion, a numbness settling in your bones - a foghorn blows in the distance and your eyes follow it up, up to a tower latched to an isle that seems to be a mile across from you. it is a lighthouse, this much you realize. With a loud groan it adjusts its big bright eye, searing across the frozen expanse before settling right on you. it is almost blinding, but you look up into it. stunned doesn’t begin to describe the way you feel.

in what feels like an instant you are surrounded by men in thick coats and a sleigh. a woman is pressing your neck, clamping your wrists, asking you how long you’ve been lying there. they place you onto the sleigh and what appears to be a wooly worm pushes forward towards the lighthouse.

a mug of cocoa in hand, the woman you remember from before pulls up a chair and explains to you where you are and what this place is. She hands you a folder filled with pamphlets and documentation to be filled out before you can be processed for integration.
